A very small aircraft with four folding arms, each carrying a coaxial rotor pair. It folds down to a slim tube for carry and opens into a full eight-rotor airframe in one motion.

Eight rotors on four arms buys redundancy and lift in a footprint that has no business having either. Folded, MJÖLNIR is a tube that rides in a pouch; opened, it is a stable eight-rotor platform. Losing a motor is not an emergency, because the coaxial pair means there is another one on that arm.

Eight rotors, four arms

A coaxial pair on every arm means the loss of a single motor degrades the aircraft rather than dropping it. Redundancy usually costs size; here it costs an arm's thickness.

Folds to a tube

The arms close along the body, so what goes in the pouch is a cylinder with nothing protruding to snag or snap. It opens into flight configuration in one movement.

Small enough to always be there

The most useful aircraft is the one actually carried. MJÖLNIR is sized so that taking it costs nothing worth arguing about.
